Two of the most traveled to destinations in the world are France and Italy. Often time people find themselves eager to take a vacation and just get away from it all but they are caught up in the decision of whether they should head to France or Italy. Of course Italy has the delicious food and a lot of tourist attractions, but there are some great reasons as to why France is a better travel destination than Italy.

Romance
One of the first things that come to mind when you think about France is romance. Think Sleepless in Seattle, and it is not surprising why people picture true romance when they head to France for a nice getaway. Especially if you are planning for your honeymoon or just for a nice getaway with that special someone, France is the place to go.

There are so many wonderful things that you can do as a couple here, and the atmosphere and environment is just perfect for this type of experience.

Monuments
Another of the reasons that France is a better travel destination than Italy is because there are so many world famous monuments that you can check out in person. These are attractions that draw in millions of travelers each and every year. Sure you can see them in pictures and hear about them from others who have visited, but there is nothing that compares to seeing them up close in person.

Rolling Hills and Lush Landscapes
Besides the gorgeous monuments that are located in France, there are also some breathtaking sights of scenery. The rolling hills and lush landscapes are another of the main features that draw people to the country, and the eastern part of France in particular is full of these gorgeous and picturesque views. Alsace, Lorraine, Franche Comte and Burgundy regions are all lovely places that one can visit when they travel to France.

Paris
Of course we can not forget about Paris. This is the most visited city in all of France and for good reason. It is actually one of the most visited cities in the world, because it has so much to offer and is so popular. It is the site of some of the most memorable television shows and movies and truly the most romantic place in the world. Paris is so fascinating and has so much to showcase to travelers that come by this way. It is known as the City of Light and is home to the infamous Eiffel Tower.

There are various different tourism and information offices that are located around Paris because of the large majority of tourists who travel this way, and so you know that you will never have to worry about getting lost. They will always be there to offer you any information and advice that you may need on how to get around the area and what different things you can do. If you ever need help making it to a restroom or nearby restaurant, they will guide you.

France is the most visited country in the world and it is definitely easy to see why. There is so much to see and so many great things to do here that there is no way that you would ever get bored or not enjoy yourself. From the beautiful beaches to the entertaining nightlife, the romantic scenery to more monuments than in any other country, this is a very pleasant place to stay and so France is one country that should be right at the top of your list when you are trying to decide on a place to travel to on your next getaway.

Best South American Travel Destinations

South American travel destinations are growing in popularity, and offer the travel some unique ecological and cultural places of interest. We chose Latin America because we love the food and culture of Latin America.

We began traveling to Mexico in the early 1970’s as kids, way before the million dollar condo projects…or roads for that matter. As adults we continued vacationing in Mexico and often traveled with our kids. It was really a natural extension for us to push further south and include Central America and South America in our travel plans.

There are many great South American travel sites, we only include a few here that our family hopes to visit. All of these are easily visited by arranging the trip yourself or tour companies will have these available in their South America travel packages.

Amazon

Visiting the Amazon is on the list of everyone that travels to South America. Beginning in Peru, the Amazon winds its way out of the Andes through many South American countries and through Northern Brazil before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.

The Amazon is one of the most exotic places on earth, and is home to a diverse ecosystem that is home for many plants and animals only found there. This is a not to be missed travel destination

Galapagos Islands

Located almost 600 miles off the Pacific Coast of Ecuador lie the Galapagos Archipelago, a string of some 22 islands that is home to many unique plant and animals only found on these islands.

Giant Tortoises, the unique Marine Iguana, Blue Footed Boobies, flightless Cormorants, and the Galapagos Penguin are just some of the unique creatures you will find on the islands and in the seas around the islands.

Access to the islands is controlled by the Ecuadorian government, and the most popular way to visit is through an approved tour operator. They offer many different tours, and they will have something that fits your interest, time, and budget considerations.

Machu Picchu

For anyone heading to Peru, Machu Picchu is certainly to be on their itinerary as it is the most visited tourist destination in Peru. These Inca ruins are located at about 8,000 feet, atop a steep mountain overlooking the Urubamba River.

Declared a Unesco World heritage Site in 1983, Machu Picchu is believed to have been built around 1460 and was an important city in the Inca civilization. The remarkable beauty and spirituality of the site draw visitors from all around the world.

Lake Titicaca

Another popular attraction in Peru is Lake Titicaca, the largest in South America and believed to have been the origin of the Inca Empire. The lake is 12,500 feet above sea level, 122 miles long and 35 miles wide.

According to Incan mythology, Manco Capac and Mama 0cllo emerged from the depths of the lake on the sacred rock gate on Isla Del Sol to found the Inca Empire. The best known islands on the lake are the floating reed islands which are maintained by adding fresh reeds to the surface even as the ones on the bottom decompose.

Iguazu Falls

Everyone that I have spoken to that has visited these falls tells me that these are a must see. On the border between Argentina and Brazil, the Iguazu Falls are more than twice as wide as the Niagra Falls and also taller.

The falls are protected by both Argentinean and Brazilian national parks on both sides of the falls, and the falls themselves are part of virgin jungle ecosystem.
2/3 of the falls are on the Argentina side, and where you can also find tours of the national park and jungle hikes.

Whatever your interests, there is a South American travel destination to meet your interests. The next time you are planning a family vacation or extended travel, consider the options that South America provides.

Safest World Travel Destinations

World travel is always an adventure. But today, with all of the “stuff” that goes on in the world and the hateful sentiment toward Americans and America that is felt in many countries around the world, the question of which countries are actually the safest to travel to comes to mind right away when planning to travel abroad.

We, of course, have a few suggestions. The following locations are probably the safest travel destinations, but that doesn’t mean that bad things CAN’T happen. It only means that bad things are far less likely to happen.

Finland is probably the safest travel destination in all of northern Europe. Helsenki, the capital of Finland, is named “the world’s friendliest city” year after year. It deserves the title. You’ll find prices are high and the current exchange rate doesn’t help matters any. Travel to Finland might cost more, but it’s definitely safe!

Japan has the lowest crime rate of any industrialized nation in the world – unless crimes against whales is included in the count. You’ve probably heard your grandparents talk about how it was in America back in the 1950s; people ride bicycles and talk to strangers without fearing for their lives. Japan today is similar to that.

In the South Pacific, New Zealand is a breathtakingly beautiful country where crime is almost nonexistent. Sheep stealing is the number one crime. New Zealand is safe.

Sweden has got to be the safest of all of the Scandinavian countries and also one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Sweden might steal your
heart, but that’s all that will be stolen. Sweden is very safe!

Monaco is where you can lose a lot of money at the casinos in Monte Carlo, but only if you choose to. The crime rate is so low it is infinitesimal.

Good Luck,

Why is Thailand Such a Popular Travel Destination

Thailand, or the “Land of Smiles”, as it is also called, is one of the most popular tourist destinations. When you ask someone what are his top travel destinations, Thailand will often be the answer. What makes Thailand such a popular tourist destination? We will see that there are quite a few contributing factors that make Thailand such a popular country.

First of all, Thailand isn’t called the “Land of Smiles” for nothing; there is a good reason why it has that name. Thailand has the reputation of being a country that is extremely hospitable for tourists. Thais are such nice people, always smiling and trying to help whenever they can. They are genuinely interested and have at heart that everyone who visit’s Thailand enjoys their stay. Even though this is a very good reason to visit Thailand, there are a few more that make’s it a must for any tourist.

Another reason would be the rich culture and history of the country. When you visit Thailand, you will be amazed at the number of great temples that you can find a bit everywhere. While in Bangkok, everyone should stop by the Grand palace and the temple of the Emerald Buddha. After that, whether you go up North towards Chiang Mai or down south towards Phuket, you will find many temples and a rich culture that is truly unique. Ayutthaya is such a grand sight to behold and is an UNESCO world heritage site. But there are not only nice temples and ruins to visit in Thailand, the natural beauty of the country is one of its greatest assets.

Beautiful beaches in the South, mountains and rainforest to the North, there is really something for everyone in Thailand. Phuket is one of the top destinations in South East Asia and for good reasons. The beaches are superb, the weather is great, what can you ask more? In Thailand there are more beautiful beaches than you can possibly hope to visit during your trip, so you should choose carefully. Koh Phi Phi is one of the most popular and became famous after the movie The Beach. There are hundred of tourists that visit Koh Phi Phi every day. But the North also has its charm, although a different kind of charm. If you want to do some jungle trek, you will be very happy by going around Chiang Mai. It is a very fulfilling experience to do a jungle trek in the mountains around Chiang Mai and to visit some small villages.

Shopping is another reason why so many people go to Thailand. Bangkok is quickly becoming a shopper’s paradise. There are huge shopping malls being built around the city and the prices are very good. You can find many bargains if you look around and can also find the top brands in the bigger shopping malls such as Siam Paragon and Central World. If you stop by Bangkok, you should definitely go to the Chatuchak weekend market, the biggest open market in the world. There are over 15,000 stalls and each day hundred of thousands of people go to the market.

Thai food is another reason why people want to go to Thailand. Everyone knows about Thai food, it is very popular and gaining in popularity in Europe and North America. In Thailand, Thai food is much better than what you will find anywhere else and there are restaurants everywhere. There is so much choice of food that when arriving in Thailand you won’t know where to eat. Thai cuisine is very diverse, as there are specialties form the North of Thailand and also form the South. You should definitely try a Pad Thai when you arrive in Thailand, you will fall in love with that meal.

Finally, the last reason is the price. Aside from the air ticket, staying in Thailand is very cheap. You can find nice hotels for about 30$ US and if you eat in smaller restaurants it will cost you around 2$. Activities are also very cheap, as is travel. Staying in Thailand won’t cost you as much as the air ticket if you want to stay on a budget. You could easily spend a lot of money if you stay in the top hotels, as there are prices for everyone, but you can also easily spend very little each day.

So with all these nice factors that make Thailand truly unique, it is no wonder that it is such a popular destination. Everyone should visit Thailand at least once in their life. All of these factors individually could be enough to visit this wonderful country, but when you add them all together, you get a destination that you won’t want to leave.

European Travel Destinations

European travel destinations are among some of the most enjoyable in the world. Whether you prefer a vacation spent doing nothing, a vacation packed with nightlife, an incredible learning experience, or a little of everything, you can find it in Europe. Most people are aware of the main European cities, like Paris and Rome, and these are definitely worth visiting; however, depending on your interests, you may want to plan a trip around some of the lesser known areas of Europe.

European travel in general has been greatly simplified since the introduction of the Euro; in most of Europe, you can now use the same currency, although there are a few holdouts. A rail pass is an excellent investment, whether you’re planning to stay in one country or travel through several; for instance, you can catch an overnight train from Paris and arrive in Rome in the morning.

France is always a star among European travel destinations; the beaches on the southern coast, the incredible scenery and cooking in Proven├žal, the glamour and bustle of Paris and the incredible beauty of Versailles, or the fabulous mountains of the Alsace. Most of the main cities and tourist areas are quite friendly to English speakers. If you have a short stay, Paris and the surrounding small towns will keep you busy and entertained, but if you have a longer amount of time to spend, the outlying areas will show you aspects of true French culture. It may sound heretical, but if you’re short on time, skip the Mona Lisa in the Louvre; behind glass, she’s not that impressive, and there are so many other galleries full of fascinating objects that you can actually examine without waiting in line.

Smaller countries often offer incredible hidden finds; Neanderthal caves in Belgium, or the incredible tiny mechanical city called Madurodam in Holland. Travel an hour inside the continental US, and you might still be in the same city; travel an hour in Europe and you may be in a different country. Just remember the sorts of things you enjoy when planning your trip, and your main problem will be trying to sort out which of the many destinations you have time to see.

Spain is one of the best European travel destinations for those who wish to immerse themselves in culture; explore Madrid, then visit the smaller towns around the perimeter. The Universidad de Salamanca is an incredible experience, and host to many cultural events throughout the year. Spanish museums contain incredible collections of art from around the world, and you never know what you’ll discover in the older cities simply walking around. Many restaurants have live music in the evenings, and once you discover the dining and cultural joy of tapas you’ll be hooked. Even if you have only a limited grasp of Spanish, you’ll have little trouble navigating, and you’ll find many English-speakers in the larger cities if you get stuck.
